Savory Meat Pastries Recipe
Ingredients:
- For the Dough:
- 500g all-purpose flour
- 200ml water
- 100g butter, melted
- 1 tsp salt
- For the Filling:
- 500g ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 green bell pepper, finely diced
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped
- For the Egg Wash:
- 1 egg, beaten
Instructions:
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Gradually add the water and melted butter, mixing until a smooth dough forms. Knead for 5-7 minutes. Cover and let rest for 30 minutes.
- Make the Filling:
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart as it cooks. Add the onion, garlic, and bell pepper, cooking until the vegetables are soft and the meat is browned. Stir in the cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix in the fresh parsley. Remove from heat and let cool.
- Assemble the Pastries:
- Divide the dough into small balls (about golf ball size). On a floured surface, roll out each ball into a thin circle. Place a spoonful of the meat mixture in the center of each circle.
- Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape. Seal the edges by pressing down with a fork or pinching them together.
- Cook the Pastries:
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F). Place the pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush each pastry with the beaten egg to give them a golden finish.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastries are golden brown.
- Serve:
- Allow the pastries to cool slightly before serving. They can be served hot or at room temperature.
Enjoy these savory pastries as a delicious snack, appetizer, or meal, perfect for any time of day!
