Savory Sausage and Cheese Muffins Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground sausage (mild or spicy, according to preference)
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup chopped green onions (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a muffin tin with paper liners or grease the cups.
- Cook Sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and cooked through. Drain any excess fat and set aside to cool slightly.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, combine the melted butter, milk, and eggs, whisking until smooth.
- Combine Ingredients: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in the cooked sausage, 1 cup of the shredded cheese, and green onions if using.
- Fill Muffin Tins: Divide the batter evenly among the muffin cups, filling each about three-quarters full. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of cheese on top of each muffin.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until the muffins are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the muffins to cool in the tin for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Serve warm or at room temperature.
