Seared Steak Bites with Mashed Potatoes
Ingredients:
For the Steak Bites:
- 1 pound sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
For the Mashed Potatoes:
- 2 pounds potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
- 1/2 cup milk
- 4 tablespoons butter
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh chives, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Mashed Potatoes:
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the potatoes and cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes.
- Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.
- Add the milk and butter to the pot with the potatoes. Mash until smooth and creamy.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Keep warm.
- Prepare the Steak Bites:
- Pat the steak pieces dry with paper towels. Season with salt and pepper.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the steak pieces in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd the skillet. Sear for 2-3 minutes on each side until browned and cooked to your desired doneness.
- Remove the steak bites from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the butter and minced garlic. Sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Return the steak bites to the skillet and toss to coat in the garlic butter sauce.
- Serve:
- Plate the mashed potatoes and top with chopped chives, if desired.
- Arrange the steak bites next to the mashed potatoes.
- Garnish the steak bites with fresh parsley.
Enjoy your seared steak bites with mashed potatoes!
