Simple Butter Cake Recipe

 

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (230g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) milk

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Grease and line a loaf pan with parchment paper.
  2. Cream Butter and Sugar:
    • In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together using a hand or stand mixer until light and fluffy (about 3–4 minutes).
  3. Add Eggs and Vanilla:
    • Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
    • Mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. Combine Dry Ingredients:
    • In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Mix Dry and Wet Ingredients:
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture in three parts, alternating with the milk. Start and end with the dry ingredients.
    • Mix until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
  6. Pour into Pan:
    • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  7. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
    • If the top browns too quickly, tent with aluminum foil during the last 15 minutes of baking.
  8. Cool and Serve:
    • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
    • Dust with powdered sugar, if desired, before serving.
