Simple Butter Cake Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 cup (230g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup (120ml) milk
Instructions:
- Preheat Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and line a loaf pan with parchment paper.
- Cream Butter and Sugar:
- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together using a hand or stand mixer until light and fluffy (about 3–4 minutes).
- Add Eggs and Vanilla:
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Mix in the vanilla extract.
- Combine Dry Ingredients:
- In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Mix Dry and Wet Ingredients:
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture in three parts, alternating with the milk. Start and end with the dry ingredients.
- Mix until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
- Pour into Pan:
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- If the top browns too quickly, tent with aluminum foil during the last 15 minutes of baking.
- Cool and Serve:
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Dust with powdered sugar, if desired, before serving.
