- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 small hot chili peppers, sliced
- 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon fish sauce
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
- Fresh cilantro, chopped for garnish
Instructions:
- Prepare the okra:
- Cut the okra into 1-inch pieces or leave them whole if they are small.
- Cook the okra:
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the okra and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until they are lightly browned and tender. Remove the okra from the skillet and set aside.
- Make the sauce:
- In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium.
- Add the minced garlic, chili peppers, and ginger. Sauté for about 1-2 minutes until aromatic.
- Mix in the soy sauce, honey, fish sauce, and lime juice. Bring to a simmer and let the sauce thicken slightly.
- Combine okra and sauce:
- Return the okra to the skillet and toss to coat with the sauce. Cook for another minute to allow the flavors to meld.
- Serve:
- Sprinkle sesame seeds and chopped cilantro over the okra.
- Serve hot as a side dish or over rice for a complete meal.
This recipe combines traditional elements with a twist of sweetness from the honey and a tangy kick from the lime juice, providing a complex flavor profile that complements the okra wonderfully. Enjoy your cooking!
