Sweet and Spicy Glazed Pork Chops

These Sweet and Spicy Glazed Pork Chops are a perfect combination of savory, sweet, and spicy flavors, making them a mouthwatering dish that’s quick to prepare. The glaze caramelizes beautifully, giving the pork chops a rich, sticky coating that’s irresistible.

Ingredients:

  • 4 bone-in or boneless pork chops (about 1-inch thick)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

For the Glaze:

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha or other hot sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional for garnish)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (optional for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Pork Chops:
    • Pat the pork chops dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
    • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the pork chops and sear for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown. Remove the chops from the skillet and set aside.
  2. Make the Glaze:
    • In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
    • Pour in the soy sauce, honey, ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, sriracha, and ground ginger. Stir well to combine.
    • Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce starts to thicken.
  3. Coat the Pork Chops:
    • Return the pork chops to the skillet, coating them well with the glaze. Lower the heat to medium-low, and continue cooking the chops in the glaze for about 5-7 minutes, flipping them occasionally to ensure they are evenly coated and cooked through. The internal temperature of the pork should reach 145°F (63°C).
  4. Serve:
    • Once the pork chops are cooked and the glaze has caramelized, remove the skillet from the heat.
    • If desired, sprinkle the pork chops with sesame seeds and sliced green onions for garnish.
    • Serve the pork chops hot, with a side of steamed vegetables, rice, or mashed potatoes.

Tips:

  • You can adjust the sweetness or spiciness of the glaze by modifying the amounts of honey or sriracha to your taste.
  • For a thicker glaze, let the sauce simmer longer until it reduces to your preferred consistency.
  • These pork chops pair well with a variety of sides, making them a versatile dish for any meal.

These Sweet and Spicy Glazed Pork Chops are sure to be a hit with anyone who enjoys bold flavors. The sticky, caramelized glaze brings out the best in the pork, making this dish perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or a special occasion. Enjoy!
