Cheesy Baked Ham and Cheese Sandwiches

 

 

 

Ingredients:

  • Sliced bread (8 slices)
  • Ham (4 slices, thinly sliced)
  • Cheese (8 slices, such as Swiss, cheddar, or mozzarella)
  • Grated cheese (1 cup, for topping)
  • Butter (4 tablespoons, softened)
  • Eggs (2)
  • Milk (1/2 cup)
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • Optional garnish: Chopped parsley or herbs

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. Assemble the Sandwiches:
    • Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread.
    • Place a slice of ham and a slice of cheese between two slices of bread (buttered sides facing out). Repeat for all sandwiches.
  3. Prepare the Topping Mixture:
    • In a bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper until combined.
  4. Add Toppings:
    • Place the sandwiches on the prepared baking tray.
    • Brush the egg mixture on top of each sandwich.
    • Sprinkle grated cheese generously over the tops of the sandwiches.
  5. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 15–20 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
  6. Serve:
    • Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
    • Garnish with parsley or herbs if desired and serve warm.
