Pizza Grilled Cheese Sandwich
Ingredients:
- 4 slices of bread (white or whole-grain)
- 4 slices of mozzarella cheese (or 1 cup shredded mozzarella)
- 8 slices of pepperoni (or your preferred toppings)
- 4 tablespoons pizza sauce (or marinara sauce)
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning or dried oregano
- Optional: grated Parmesan cheese for garnish
Instructions:
- Prepare the Bread:
- Spread a thin layer of butter on one side of each slice of bread.
- Sprinkle the buttered sides with a pinch of Italian seasoning for added flavor.
- Assemble the Sandwich:
- Place the unbuttered side of a bread slice facing up.
- Spread 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce over the bread.
- Add 2 slices of mozzarella cheese (or a generous handful of shredded cheese).
- Layer 4 slices of pepperoni (or your favorite pizza toppings) on top of the cheese.
- Top with another slice of bread, buttered side facing out.
- Cook the Sandwich:
- Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium heat.
- Place the sandwich on the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, pressing gently with a spatula, until the bread is golden brown and crispy and the cheese has melted.
- Serve:
- Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- Slice diagonally and serve hot. Optionally, garnish with grated Parmesan cheese and a sprinkle of Italian seasoning.
- Optional Dipping Sauce:
- Serve with a side of warm pizza sauce or marinara for dipping.
