Classic Butter Pound Cake

 

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Optional: 1/4 cup milk (for a lighter texture)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Grease a loaf pan and line it with parchment paper.
  2. Cream Butter and Sugar:
    • In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Add Eggs and Vanilla:
    • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
    • Mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. Combine Dry Ingredients:
    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Combine Mixtures:
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until incorporated. If using milk, alternate with the flour mixture, starting and ending with flour.
  6. Bake the Cake:
    • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
    • Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool and Serve:
    • Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
    • Slice and serve as desired.
