Cheesy Herb Scones
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small cubes
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions
- 1 large egg
- 3/4 cup milk
Instructions:
- Preheat Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Mix Dry Ingredients:
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper.
- Cut in Butter:
- Add the cold butter to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add Cheese and Herbs:
- Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese, chopped parsley, and chopped green onions until evenly distributed.
- Mix Wet Ingredients:
- In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and milk. Pour the wet ingredients into the flour mixture and stir until just combined. The dough will be sticky.
- Shape the Dough:
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead it gently a few times until it comes together. Pat the dough into a circle about 1-inch thick.
- Cut into Wedges:
- Using a sharp knife, cut the dough into 8 wedges. Transfer the wedges to the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart.
- Bake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the scones are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Serve:
- Let the scones cool slightly on a wire rack. Serve warm, and enjoy your cheesy herb scones!
