Cinnamon Apple Bread

Ingredients:

For the Bread:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 2 cups peeled and diced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp recommended)
For the Cinnamon Sugar Topping:
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. Prepare the Dry Ingredients:
    • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set aside.
  3. Cream the Butter and Sugar:
    • In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add the Eggs and Vanilla:
    • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  6. Fold in the Apples:
    • Gently fold in the diced apples until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  7. Prepare the Topping:
    • In a small bowl, mix together the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon for the topping.
  8. Assemble the Bread:
    • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the top of the batter.
  9. Bake the Bread:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the bread comes out clean. If the top starts to brown too quickly, cover it loosely with aluminum foil.
  10. Cool and Serve:
    • Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Enjoy your delicious cinnamon apple bread with a sweet, crunchy topping!
