Classic Pancake Recipe

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk (or regular milk with a tablespoon of vinegar)
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • Butter or oil for cooking

Instructions:

  1. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. Combine: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. The batter should be slightly lumpy; do not over-mix.
  4. Preheat Pan: Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Lightly grease with butter or oil.
  5. Cook Pancakes: Pour 1/4 cup of batter onto the skillet for each pancake. Cook until bubbles form on the surface, about 2-3 minutes. Flip and cook until golden brown on the other side, about 1-2 minutes more.
  6. Serve: Serve warm with your choice of toppings, such as maple syrup, fresh fruit, or whipped cream.

Variations:

  • Banana Pancakes: Add 1 mashed banana to the wet ingredients.
  • Blueberry Pancakes: Fold 1/2 cup of fresh or frozen blueberries into the batter.
  • Chocolate Chip Pancakes: Stir 1/4 cup of chocolate chips into the batter.

These pancakes are perfect for a delicious breakfast or brunch and can be customized with various add-ins and toppings to suit your taste!
