Cheesy Potato Casserole Recipe
Ingredients:
- 5-6 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your preferred type)
- 1 cup heavy cream or milk
- 1-2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced (optional)
- 1-2 tablespoons butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley or dill for garnish
Instructions:
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Prepare the Potatoes: Wash and peel the potatoes. Slice them thinly, about 1/8 inch thick.
- Layer the Ingredients:
- Grease a baking dish with butter.
- Arrange a layer of potato slices on the bottom.
- Add a layer of onion slices (if using).
- Sprinkle some minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
- Add a handful of shredded cheese.
- Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, ending with a layer of cheese on top.
- Add Cream: Pour the heavy cream or milk over the layered potatoes. The liquid should almost cover the potatoes, but the top layer should still be visible.
- Bake: Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
- Garnish: Once out of the oven, garnish with freshly chopped parsley or dill.
- Serve: Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving.
This dish makes a great side or even a main dish, especially when paired with a fresh salad or some roasted vegetables. Enjoy!
