Banoffee in a Can Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cans of sweetened condensed milk (for caramel)
  • 3-4 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 2 cups of crushed digestive biscuits or graham crackers
  • 1/2 cup of melted butter
  • 1 cup of whipped cream
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • Chocolate shavings (optional for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Caramel:
    • Remove the labels from the cans of sweetened condensed milk.
    • Place the unopened cans in a large pot of water, ensuring they are completely submerged.
    • Bring the water to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and cook for 2-3 hours. Make sure to keep the cans submerged by adding water as needed.
    • Carefully remove the cans from the water and let them cool completely before opening. This will be your caramel.
  2. Prepare the Crust:
    • Combine the crushed digestive biscuits or graham crackers with the melted butter.
    • Press the mixture into the bottom of serving glasses or jars to form a crust.
  3. Assemble the Banoffee:
    • Once the caramel cans are cooled, open them and spoon the caramel over the crust in each serving glass or jar.
    • Add a layer of sliced bananas over the caramel.
    • In a separate bowl, whip the cream with the vanilla extract until it forms soft peaks. Spoon the whipped cream over the bananas.
    • Garnish with additional banana slices and chocolate shavings if desired.
  4. Serve:
    • Enjoy immediately or refrigerate for an hour to allow the flavors to meld together.

Tips:

  • Ensure the cans of sweetened condensed milk are completely cooled before opening to avoid any risk of burns.
  • You can use store-bought dulce de leche as a quicker alternative to making your own caramel.

Enjoy your unique and delightful Banoffee in a Can!
