Barbecue Ribs with Sweet and Smoky Glaze Recipe
Ingredients:
For the Ribs:
- 2 racks of pork ribs (baby back or spare ribs)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
For the Dry Rub:
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp smoked paprika
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp onion powder
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tbsp ground black pepper
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
For the Glaze:
- 1 cup Sweet Baby Ray’s Hickory & Brown Sugar Barbecue Sauce
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 tsp liquid smoke (optional, for extra smoky flavor)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Ribs:
- Preheat your oven to 275°F (135°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
- Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs for better seasoning penetration and tenderness. Pat the ribs dry with paper towels.
- Apply the Dry Rub:
- In a small bowl, combine all the dry rub ingredients. Mix well.
- Rub the olive oil over both sides of the ribs. Generously sprinkle the dry rub over both sides of the ribs, pressing it in to adhere.
- Bake the Ribs:
- Place the ribs on the prepared baking sheet, bone side down. Cover the ribs tightly with aluminum foil.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the ribs are tender.
- Prepare the Glaze:
- In a small saucepan, combine the barbecue sauce, honey, apple cider vinegar, and liquid smoke (if using). Heat over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until the glaze is well combined and slightly thickened.
- Glaze and Grill the Ribs:
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
- Remove the ribs from the oven and discard the foil. Brush both sides of the ribs with the glaze.
- Place the ribs on the grill and cook for 5-10 minutes per side, brushing with more glaze as they cook, until the ribs are nicely caramelized and slightly charred.
- Serve:
- Remove the ribs from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes before slicing. Serve with additional barbecue sauce on the side if desired.
