Caramel Drip Cake
Ingredients:
For the Cake:
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup whole milk
For the Caramel Sauce:
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- A pinch of salt
For the Frosting:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract

1. Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
2. Prepare the Cake Batter:
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large bowl, beat the butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then mix in the vanilla extract.
- Add the flour mixture in three parts, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
3. Bake the Cake:
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn them out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
4. Prepare the Caramel Sauce:
- In a medium saucepan, melt the sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until it turns a deep amber color.
- Carefully add the heavy cream (the mixture will bubble up), and stir until smooth.
- Remove from heat and stir in the butter, vanilla extract, and salt. Let the caramel sauce cool to room temperature.
5. Prepare the Frosting:

- In a large bowl, beat the butter until creamy.
- Gradually add the powdered sugar, beating until combined.
- Add the heavy cream and vanilla extract, and beat until light and fluffy.
6. Assemble the Cake:
- Place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread a layer of frosting on top.
- Place the second cake layer on top and spread a thin layer of frosting over the entire cake to create a crumb coat. Refrigerate for 15 minutes.
- Spread the remaining frosting evenly over the cake.
7. Add the Caramel Drip:
- Pour the cooled caramel sauce over the top of the cake, allowing it to drip down the sides.
8. Serve:
