Cheesy Baked Pastry Rolls Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 package of puff pastry sheets (2 sheets), thawed
- 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)
- 1 cup cooked and shredded chicken (optional)
- 1/2 cup chopped spinach or other greens
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onions
- 1/4 cup finely chopped bell peppers
- 1 egg, beaten
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Preheat Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare Filling:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded cheese, cooked chicken (if using), chopped spinach, onions, and bell peppers. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Prepare Puff Pastry:
- Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface. Cut each sheet into 4 equal squares.
- Assemble the Pastry Rolls:
- Place a generous amount of the cheese and vegetable mixture in the center of each pastry square.
- Fold each square over to form a rectangle or triangle, sealing the edges by pressing them with a fork.
- Place the filled pastries on the prepared baking sheet.
- Egg Wash:
- Brush the top of each pastry with the beaten egg. This will give them a nice golden color when baked.
- Bake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastries are golden brown and puffed up.
- Serve:
- Allow the pastries to cool slightly before serving. They can be enjoyed warm or at room temperature.
