Cheesy Baked Pastry Rolls Recipe

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 package of puff pastry sheets (2 sheets), thawed
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)
  • 1 cup cooked and shredded chicken (optional)
  • 1/2 cup chopped spinach or other greens
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onions
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped bell peppers
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare Filling:
    • In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded cheese, cooked chicken (if using), chopped spinach, onions, and bell peppers. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Prepare Puff Pastry:
    • Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface. Cut each sheet into 4 equal squares.
  4. Assemble the Pastry Rolls:
    • Place a generous amount of the cheese and vegetable mixture in the center of each pastry square.
    • Fold each square over to form a rectangle or triangle, sealing the edges by pressing them with a fork.
    • Place the filled pastries on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Egg Wash:
    • Brush the top of each pastry with the beaten egg. This will give them a nice golden color when baked.
  6. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastries are golden brown and puffed up.
  7. Serve:
    • Allow the pastries to cool slightly before serving. They can be enjoyed warm or at room temperature.
