INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1: Prepare the Filling
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until translucent.
Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
Stir in paprika, cumin, oregano, salt, pepper, and tomato paste. Cook for another 2–3 minutes until well blended.
Remove from heat. Let the mixture cool slightly, then stir in shredded cheese and fresh herbs (if using). Set aside.
Step 2: Prepare the Pastry Base
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Unroll the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Transfer it to a parchment-lined baking tray.
Place a mound of the beef mixture in the center of the pastry and gently flatten it into a thick circle, leaving a 2-inch border all around. Add a handful of cheese on top of the beef if you want it extra gooey.
Step 3: Seal the Pie
Fold the edges of the pastry over the filling, leaving the center slightly exposed or completely covered depending on your style. Press gently to seal.
Score the top lightly with a knife for a decorative look (optional).
Step 4: Egg Wash & Bake
Beat the egg and brush it over the top and sides of the pastry for a glossy finish.
Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed. The cheese inside should be melted and bubbly.
