Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, or a mix)
  • 1/2 cup cooked and crumbled bacon (optional)
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh herbs (such as parsley, thyme, or rosemary)
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning (optional)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Dough:

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • If using store-bought pizza dough, let it come to room temperature for easier handling.

2. Mix Filling:

  • In a bowl, mix the shredded cheese with the bacon (if using) and fresh herbs.

3. Shape the Bread:

  • Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface into a large rectangle about 1/2-inch thick.
  • Cut the dough into approximately 2-inch squares.
  • Place a small amount of the cheese mixture on each dough square.
  • Gather up the edges of each square and pinch to seal, forming stuffed balls.

4. Assemble the Bread:

  • Grease a round baking dish.
  • Dip each stuffed dough ball into the melted butter mixed with minced garlic, then arrange them in the prepared baking dish.
  • Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and dried Italian seasoning if desired.

5. Bake:

  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
  • If the top browns too quickly, you can cover it with aluminum foil and continue baking.

6. Serve:

  • Let the bread cool slightly before serving.
  • This dish is best served warm, allowing the cheese to stretch beautifully as you pull apart the bread.

This cheesy pull-apart bread is perfect as an appetizer or side dish, offering a satisfying cheesy goodness that’s sure to be a hit at any gathering. Enjoy the baking and the delicious results!
