Ingredients:

  • For the Dough:
    • 500g all-purpose flour
    • 50g sugar
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 2 teaspoons instant yeast
    • 250ml warm milk
    • 2 large eggs
    • 50g unsalted butter, softened
  • For Filling and Coating:
    • Chocolate hazelnut spread or any chocolate filling
    • 200g granulated sugar (for coating)
    • Vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
    • Mix in the warm milk and eggs until the mixture comes together.
    • Add the softened butter and knead the dough for about 10 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
    • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  2. Shape the Doughnuts:
    • Once risen, turn the dough out onto a floured surface.
    • Roll out to about 1/2 inch thickness.
    • Use a round cutter to cut out circles.
    • Place a small amount of chocolate filling in the center of half of the dough circles.
    • Cover each filled circle with another dough circle, sealing the edges tightly to encase the chocolate.
    • Let the shaped doughnuts rise for an additional 30 minutes.
  3. Fry the Doughnuts:
    • Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
    • Carefully place the doughnuts in the hot oil and fry until golden brown on both sides.
    • Remove the doughnuts and drain on paper towels.
  4. Coat the Doughnuts:
    • Roll the warm doughnuts in granulated sugar until evenly coated.
