Churros with Chocolate Dipping Sauce
Ingredients:
- For the Churros:
- 1 cup water
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs
- Oil, for frying
- 1/2 cup sugar, for coating
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, for coating
- For the Chocolate Sauce:
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup chopped dark chocolate
- 2 tablespoons sugar (optional, adjust to taste)
Instructions:
1. Make the Churros Dough:
- In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and add the flour, stirring vigorously until the mixture forms a ball, about 1 minute. Remove from heat.
- Let the dough cool for a few minutes, then add eggs one at a time, stirring until incorporated and the mixture is smooth.
2. Prepare for Frying:
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
- Spoon the churro dough into a piping bag fitted with a large star tip.
- Pipe strips of dough into the hot oil, cutting them with scissors at the desired length.
- Fry churros until golden brown, about 2 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
3. Coat the Churros:

- Combine 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon in a shallow dish. Toss warm churros in the mixture until well coated.
4. Make the Chocolate Sauce:
- Heat the cream in a small pot until it begins to simmer. Remove from heat and add the chopped chocolate and sugar. Let sit for one minute, then stir until smooth and glossy.
5. Serve:
- Arrange churros on a plate with the chocolate sauce in a bowl for dipping.
