Crispy French Fries Recipe
Ingredients:
- 4 large russet potatoes
- 1 quart vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
Instructions:
- Prepare the Potatoes:
- Peel the potatoes and cut them into thin, even strips.
- Place the cut potatoes in a large bowl of cold water. Let them soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch. For best results, soak them for up to 2 hours.
- Heat the Oil:
- Pour the vegetable oil into a deep fryer or a large, heavy-bottomed pot. Heat the oil to 325°F (165°C).
- First Fry:
- Drain the potatoes and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel.
- Fry the potatoes in batches for about 5-6 minutes. They should be tender but not browned. Remove them from the oil and let them drain on a paper towel-lined baking sheet.
- Second Fry:
- Increase the oil temperature to 375°F (190°C).
- Fry the potatoes again in batches for about 2-3 minutes until they are golden brown and crispy.
- Remove them from the oil and place them on fresh paper towels to drain any excess oil.
- Seasoning:
- While the fries are still hot, sprinkle them with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Toss to evenly coat the fries.
- Serve:
- Serve the crispy French fries immediately with your favorite dipping sauces.
Tips for Extra Crispy Fries:
- Use russet potatoes for the best texture.
- Soaking the potatoes removes excess starch, making them crispier.
- Double frying ensures the perfect combination of a crispy exterior and a tender interior.
