Crispy Glazed Chicken Wings
Ingredients:
For the Wings:
- 2 lbs (about 1 kg) chicken wings, split into drumettes and flats
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Oil for frying
For the Glaze:
- 1/2 cup hot sauce (like Frank’s RedHot for Buffalo wings)
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup honey (for a honey glaze)
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce (optional, for extra flavor)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced (optional)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Wings:
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
- Toss the chicken wings in the flour mixture until well coated. Shake off any excess flour and set aside.
- Fry the Wings:
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the wings in batches, avoiding overcrowding, for about 8-10 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from oil and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
- Prepare the Glaze:
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
- Stir in the hot sauce, honey, soy sauce, and minced garlic. Bring to a simmer and cook for a few minutes until the glaze thickens slightly.
- Coat the Wings:
- Place the fried wings in a large bowl and pour the glaze over them.
- Toss the wings until they are evenly coated with the glaze.
- Serve:
- Serve the glazed wings hot with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ranch or blue cheese dressing, and celery sticks.
