Decadent Chocolate Truffles

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 ounces bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Cocoa powder, for rolling
  • Chocolate chips, for topping
  • Melted chocolate, for drizzling

Instructions:

  1. Heat the Cream:
    • In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer. Do not let it boil.
  2. Melt the Chocolate:
    • Place the finely chopped bittersweet chocolate in a heatproof bowl. Pour the hot cream over the chocolate and let it sit for 2-3 minutes to melt.
  3. Stir the Mixture:
    • Add the vanilla extract and stir the mixture until smooth and well combined. This mixture is called ganache.
  4. Chill the Ganache:
    • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 1-2 hours, or until the ganache is firm enough to scoop.
  5. Form the Truffles:
    • Using a small cookie scoop or a teaspoon, scoop out the ganache and roll it into balls with your hands. Place the truffles on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Roll in Cocoa Powder:
    • Roll each truffle in cocoa powder until fully coated.
  7. Decorate the Truffles:
    • Melt some additional chocolate for drizzling. Place the truffles in decorative paper cups.
    • Drizzle the melted chocolate over the top of each truffle and immediately sprinkle with chocolate chips.
  8. Chill Again:
    • Place the decorated truffles back in the refrigerator for about 15-20 minutes to set.
  9. Serve:
    • Serve the truffles chilled or at room temperature. Enjoy the rich and creamy texture of these decadent chocolate truffles!
