Decadent Chocolate Truffles
Ingredients:
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 8 ounces bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Cocoa powder, for rolling
- Chocolate chips, for topping
- Melted chocolate, for drizzling
Instructions:
- Heat the Cream:
- In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer. Do not let it boil.
- Melt the Chocolate:
- Place the finely chopped bittersweet chocolate in a heatproof bowl. Pour the hot cream over the chocolate and let it sit for 2-3 minutes to melt.
- Stir the Mixture:
- Add the vanilla extract and stir the mixture until smooth and well combined. This mixture is called ganache.
- Chill the Ganache:
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 1-2 hours, or until the ganache is firm enough to scoop.
- Form the Truffles:
- Using a small cookie scoop or a teaspoon, scoop out the ganache and roll it into balls with your hands. Place the truffles on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Roll in Cocoa Powder:
- Roll each truffle in cocoa powder until fully coated.
- Decorate the Truffles:
- Melt some additional chocolate for drizzling. Place the truffles in decorative paper cups.
- Drizzle the melted chocolate over the top of each truffle and immediately sprinkle with chocolate chips.
- Chill Again:
- Place the decorated truffles back in the refrigerator for about 15-20 minutes to set.
- Serve:
