Garlic Parmesan Pull-Apart Rolls
Ingredients:
For the Dough:
- 4 cups (500g) all-purpose flour
- 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (240ml) warm milk (110°F/45°C)
- 1/4 cup (60g) unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
For the Garlic Parmesan Topping:
- 1/4 cup (60g) unsalted butter, melted
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup (50g) grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional)
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- Add the melted butter and eggs to the yeast mixture and stir to combine.
- In another bowl, mix the flour and salt. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 8-10 minutes, or until smooth and elastic. Alternatively, you can use a stand mixer with a dough hook attachment.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Shape the Rolls:
- Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball.
- Grease a cast iron skillet or a baking dish, and arrange the dough balls in the skillet or dish, spacing them slightly apart.
- Cover with a damp cloth and let the rolls rise again for about 30-45 minutes, or until puffy.
- Prepare the Topping:
- In a small bowl, mix the melted butter and minced garlic.
- In another bowl, combine the grated Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley (if using), dried oregano, dried basil, and salt.
- Bake the Rolls:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Brush the tops of the risen rolls with the garlic butter mixture, then sprinkle the Parmesan cheese mixture evenly over the rolls.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and sound hollow when tapped.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
- Serve:
- Serve the garlic Parmesan pull-apart rolls warm, straight from the skillet or dish.
- These rolls are perfect as a side dish for any meal or enjoyed on their own.
