Golden Custard Pie

Introduction

Golden Custard Pie is a classic homemade dessert with a flaky pie crust and a smooth, creamy custard filling. It has a beautiful golden top, a soft center, and a rich vanilla flavor. This pie is perfect for family gatherings, holidays, tea time, or a comforting dessert after dinner.

Ingredients

For the Pie Crust

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4–5 tablespoons cold water

For the Custard Filling

  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • A pinch of salt
  • A pinch of nutmeg, optional

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 180°C / 350°F.

To prepare the crust, mix the flour, sugar, and salt in a bowl. Add the cold butter and rub it into the flour until the mixture looks like crumbs. Add cold water little by little until a soft dough forms.

Roll out the dough and place it in a pie dish. Press it gently into the dish and shape the edges. Prick the bottom with a fork, then bake the crust for 10 minutes.

In a large bowl, whisk the eggs and sugar until smooth. Add the milk, heavy cream, vanilla extract, melted butter, flour, and salt. Mix well until the custard becomes creamy and fully combined.

Pour the custard filling into the prepared pie crust. Sprinkle a little nutmeg on top if desired.

Bake for 40–50 minutes, or until the top is golden and the center is set but still slightly soft. Let the pie cool completely before slicing so the custard can firm up.

Serving

Serve the Golden Custard Pie chilled or at room temperature. It is delicious with whipped cream, fresh fruit, coffee, or tea.

Conclusion

This Golden Custard Pie is simple, elegant, and full of comforting flavor. Its flaky crust and creamy custard filling make it a wonderful dessert for any occasion.
