Grilled BBQ Chicken Legs
Ingredients:
Chicken Legs:
2 1/2 to 3 pounds chicken legs
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon unsalted lemon juice
1 teaspoon salt (sea salt recommended)
Barbecue sauce:
1 cup ketchup
1 1/2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup honey
1 1/ 2 teaspoons dry stored
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 190°C.
Mix dry ingredients in a bowl: garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, lemon pepper, and salt. Set aside 1/2 teaspoon of this dry rub mixed with barbecue sauce.
Season the chicken legs well with the remaining dry ribs. Place them on a baking tray lined with aluminum foil or baking paper for easy cleanup.
Bake the chicken legs in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes.
While the chicken is cooking, prepare the barbecue sauce. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine ketchup, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, honey, and 1/2 teaspoon dry rub. Mix well and boil. Cook until the sauce thickens slightly, about 5 minutes.
After cooking for 25 minutes, brush the chicken thighs with barbecue sauce. Return to the oven and bake for another 10-15 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through (internal temperature should be 165°F) and the chicken thighs are cooked through. The sauce is brown.
Serve hot chicken legs garnished with fresh herbs.
