Grilled Cheese Sandwich with Tomato and Herbs
Ingredients:
- 4 slices of your favorite bread (sourdough, white, or whole wheat)
- 4 slices of cheddar cheese (or your preferred cheese)
- 1 medium tomato, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano or basil (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Prepare the Bread:
- Spread softened butter on one side of each slice of bread.
- Assemble the Sandwich:
- Place two slices of bread, buttered side down, on a cutting board or plate.
- Layer a slice of cheese on each slice of bread.
- Add tomato slices on top of the cheese. Season the tomato slices with a pinch of salt and pepper.
- Sprinkle dried oregano or basil over the tomatoes for extra flavor.
- Top with another slice of cheese and then the remaining slices of bread, buttered side up.
- Cook the Sandwich:
- Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
- Place the assembled sandwiches in the skillet.
- Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Serve:
- Remove the sandwiches from the skillet.
- Let them cool for a minute or two before cutting them in half.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
