Instructions:
-
Make the Dough:
In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy. Add the egg, oil, salt, and flour gradually, mixing until a soft dough forms. Knead for 8–10 minutes by hand or in a stand mixer until smooth and elastic. -
Let It Rise:
Cover the dough with a kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.ADVERTISEMENT
-
Prepare the Filling:
While the dough rises, prep the ham slices, bell pepper strips, and grated cheese. Set aside. -
Shape the Buns:
Once risen, punch down the dough and divide into 12 equal balls. Roll each ball into a rectangle or oval shape. Lay ham, bell pepper strips, and a sprinkle of cheese in the center. -
Roll & Seal:
Roll the dough over the filling tightly like a log and pinch the ends to seal. Place seam side down on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. -
Final Rise:
Cover with a towel and let the buns rise again for 20–30 minutes. -
Brush & Bake:
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush each bun with the egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake for 18–22 minutes or until golden brown. -
Cool & Serve:
Let them cool slightly before serving. These are best enjoyed warm with the cheese still melty inside!
Whether you’re serving them fresh out of the oven or packing them for later, these buns are guaranteed to be devoured quickly. They’re soft on the outside, cheesy and savory on the inside, and make for the perfect homemade treat that feels like it came from a bakery. Make a double batch — you’ll be glad you did!
