Here’s a simple recipe for sautéed cabbage and bacon:
Ingredients:
- 1 medium head of cabbage, chopped
- 6 slices of bacon, chopped
- 1 small onion, diced (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil or butter (optional)
Instructions:
- Cook the bacon: Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped bacon and cook until crispy. Remove the bacon pieces from the pan and set aside, leaving the bacon grease in the skillet.
- Sauté the onion (optional): If you’re using onion, add it to the pan with the bacon grease and sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Cook the cabbage: Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet and stir to coat in the bacon grease. Cook for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender and begins to caramelize.
- Add bacon: Return the cooked bacon to the skillet and stir it in with the cabbage. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve: Serve hot as a side dish or as a main course.
