Here’s a simple recipe for sautéed cabbage and bacon:

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium head of cabbage, chopped
  • 6 slices of bacon, chopped
  • 1 small onion, diced (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil or butter (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the bacon: Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped bacon and cook until crispy. Remove the bacon pieces from the pan and set aside, leaving the bacon grease in the skillet.
  2. Sauté the onion (optional): If you’re using onion, add it to the pan with the bacon grease and sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Cook the cabbage: Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet and stir to coat in the bacon grease. Cook for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender and begins to caramelize.
  4. Add bacon: Return the cooked bacon to the skillet and stir it in with the cabbage. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Serve: Serve hot as a side dish or as a main course.
