Sausage Rolls in Puff Pastry
Ingredients:
- 1 package of puff pastry sheets (thawed, if frozen)
- 1 pound (450g) sausage meat (or sausages with the casing removed)
- 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
- Optional: Seasoning (salt, pepper, garlic powder, or herbs like parsley)
Instructions:
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare the Puff Pastry: Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface. Cut them into rectangles (large enough to wrap around your sausage filling).
- Prepare the Sausage Filling: If using sausage meat, season it as desired. If using sausages, remove the casing and shape the meat into small logs.
- Assemble the Sausage Rolls: Place a sausage log onto one side of each pastry rectangle. Fold the pastry over the sausage and seal the edges by pressing with a fork.
- Add the Egg Wash: Brush the tops of the rolls with the beaten egg to give them a golden finish when baked.
- Bake: Place the rolls on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes or until the pastry is golden and the sausage is fully cooked.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the sausage rolls to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature
