Savory Beef and Cheese Rolls

 

 

 

Ingredients

For the Filling:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup (100g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup (50g) grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika or chili powder (optional for spice)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley or green onions, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

For the Base:

  • 2 large flour tortillas or thin flatbread

For Topping:

  • 1 cup (100g) shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Filling:

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add chopped onion and garlic, sauté until translucent.
  3. Add the ground beef, cooking until browned. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika. Stir well.
  4. Once cooked, remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  5. Mix in the shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, and fresh parsley or green onions.

2. Assemble the Rolls:

  1. Place the tortillas or flatbread on a clean surface.
  2. Spread the beef mixture evenly over each tortilla, leaving a small border.
  3. Roll the tortillas tightly, like a log (as seen in the image).
  4. Place the rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, seam side down.

3. Bake:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Sprinkle the tops of the rolls with additional shredded cheese.
  3. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and golden.

4. Serve:

  • Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh parsley or green onions.
  • Slice into pieces or serve whole.

Tips:

  • You can add a layer of tomato sauce or marinara before rolling for extra flavor.
  • Substitute beef with ground chicken, turkey, or plant-based meat alternatives for variety.
  • Serve with a side of sour cream, salsa, or garlic yogurt sauce.
