Southern Fried Chicken Filet Recipe with Sauce
This dish we made last night was phenomenal; It deserves more than just 5 stars!
Ingredients:
For the steak:
4 tender, diced steaks (about 1/2 inch thick)
1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
2 large eggs

1/4 cup milk
Vegetable oil for frying
For the sauce:
2 tablespoons reserved frying oil
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

2 cups Milk
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Mix the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt and pepper in a flat plate.
In another container, mix the eggs with the milk to form a dough.
Bread the fillets: Brush with the flour mixture, brush with beaten egg and coat again with flour.

Fry the fillets in hot oil in a pan until golden brown (approx. 4 minutes per side) and drain on kitchen paper.For the sauce, add 2 tablespoons of fat to the pan, add the flour and cook for 2 minutes. Gradually add the milk, season with salt and pepper and cook until the mixture has thickened.
Serve the fillets with the creamy sauce.
Variations and tips:
For a spicy note, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the flour. Substitute chicken breast for cubed steaks for a fried chicken version.Make extra batches to make reheating easier on busy days by using the oven and rack to crisp it up.
