Stir-Fried Chicken with Bell Peppers and Green Beans
Ingredients:
- 500 g (1 lb) chicken (thighs or breasts), cut into pieces
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced into strips
- 200 g (7 oz) green beans
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch (cornflour) mixed with a little water
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil or vegetable oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Red chili flakes (optional, to taste)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Chicken: Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the chicken pieces and sauté until they are fully cooked and golden brown. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- Cook the Vegetables: In the same pan, add the green beans and bell peppers. Stir-fry for 3 to 4 minutes until they are slightly tender but still crisp.
- Add the Aromatics: Add the minced garlic to the pan and stir for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, and sugar. Pour this mixture into the pan with the vegetables and stir well.
- Thicken the Sauce: Add the cornstarch mixture to the pan and let it simmer until the sauce slightly thickens.
- Combine Everything: Return the chicken to the pan and stir to coat it with the sauce. Season with salt, pepper, and chili flakes if desired.
- Serve: Serve hot with rice or noodles.
