Stuffed Flatbread Recipe

 

 

Ingredients:

  • For the Dough:
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 2/3 cup warm water
    • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • For the Filling:
    • 1 cup finely chopped green onions
    • 1 cup grated cheese (optional)
    • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • For Cooking:
    • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions:

1. Make the Dough:

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Gradually add warm water, mixing until the dough begins to come together.
  • Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 5-7 minutes. Add the vegetable oil and continue to knead until fully incorporated.
  • Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for at least 30 minutes.

2. Prepare the Filling:

  • In a small bowl, mix the chopped green onions with salt and pepper. Set aside. If using cheese, keep it ready to be added during assembly.

3. Shape the Flatbreads:

  • Divide the rested dough into equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball.
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out each ball into a thin circle.
  • Sprinkle a portion of the green onion mixture (and cheese if using) over half of the circle, leaving a small border around the edges.
  • Fold the dough over to enclose the filling, pressing the edges to seal.

4. Cook the Flatbreads:

  • Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a small amount of vegetable oil.
  • Place the stuffed flatbread in the skillet and cook until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  • Repeat with the remaining flatbreads.

5. Serve:

  • Serve the stuffed flatbreads hot, either alone or with a dipping sauce of your choice.
