Sweet Fried Bread Recipe
Ingredients:
- 500g all-purpose flour
- 10g active dry yeast
- 50g sugar, plus extra for coating
- 1 tsp salt
- 300ml warm milk
- 50g melted butter
- 1 egg
- Oil, for frying
Instructions:
- Dough Preparation:
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Add the warm milk, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Kneading:
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes.
- First Rise:
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Shaping:
- Punch down the dough and turn it out onto a floured surface. Divide into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and then flatten slightly. Make slits or patterns if desired.
- Second Rise:
- Place the shaped dough on a tray, cover lightly, and let rise again for about 30 minutes.
- Frying:
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large skillet to 180°C (350°F). Fry the dough pieces in batches, turning once, until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Coating:
- Remove from the oil and immediately roll in sugar while still hot.
