Tiramisu

Introduction:

Tiramisu, an Italian dessert, is a delightful treat that combines the rich flavors of coffee, cocoa, and mascarpone cheese. Its name translates to “cheer me up” in Italian, and it’s easy to see why. This no-bake dessert is perfect for any occasion and is sure to impress your guests.

Ingredients:

  • 18 Ladyfingers
  • 2 cups strong brewed coffee, cooled
  • 2 tablespoons Kahlua or other coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 1 pound mascarpone cheese, at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs, separated
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the coffee: Brew a strong pot of coffee and let it cool completely. Stir in the Kahlua if using.
  2. Dip the ladyfingers: Dip each ladyfinger briefly into the coffee mixture, turning to coat both sides. Arrange them in a single layer in the bottom of a glass baking dish.
  3. Make the mascarpone cream: In a large bowl, beat the mascarpone cheese and sugar until smooth and creamy. In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the egg whites into the mascarpone mixture.
  4. Assemble the tiramisu: Spread a layer of the mascarpone cream over the ladyfingers. Repeat the layers of ladyfingers and mascarpone cream until all the ingredients are used, ending with a layer of cream.
  5. Dust with cocoa powder: Sift the cocoa powder evenly over the top of the tiramisu.
  6. Chill: Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for the best flavor.
