Tropical Ambrosia Salad
Ingredients:
- 1 cup pineapple chunks
- 1 cup mandarin orange segments
- 1 cup maraschino cherries, halved
- 1 cup mini marshmallows
- 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
- 1 cup whipped cream or whipped topping
- 1/2 cup sour cream or yogurt (optional for extra creaminess)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Fruit:
- Drain the pineapple chunks and mandarin oranges well to avoid excess moisture in the salad.
- If using fresh cherries, pit and halve them. If using maraschino cherries, halve them and pat dry with a paper towel.
- Combine Ingredients:
- In a large bowl, combine the pineapple chunks, mandarin orange segments, halved cherries, mini marshmallows, and shredded coconut.
- Fold in Cream:
- Gently fold in the whipped cream or whipped topping until everything is evenly coated. If you prefer a creamier salad, you can mix in sour cream or yogurt as well.
- Chill:
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Serve:
- Serve chilled, garnished with additional cherries or a sprinkle of coconut on top.
