King’s Hawaiian Cheesecake Rolls
These soft, golden rolls are filled with a rich and creamy cheesecake center, then finished with a sweet vanilla glaze. They’re an easy, bakery-style treat that works beautifully for breakfast, brunch, or dessert.
Ingredients
12 Hawaiian sweet rolls
8 oz cream cheese, softened
⅓ cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 large egg yolk
2 tablespoons melted butter
½ cup powdered sugar
1–2 tablespoons milk
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Preparation Steps
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a baking dish or line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with the granulated sugar until completely smooth and creamy.
Add the egg yolk and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Mix until everything is well combined and the cheesecake filling is silky.
Carefully make an opening in the center of each Hawaiian roll without cutting completely through the bottom.
Spoon or pipe a generous amount of cheesecake filling into the center of each roll.
Arrange the filled rolls closely together in the prepared baking dish and lightly brush the tops with melted butter.
Bake for 12–16 minutes, or until the rolls are warm and lightly golden and the cheesecake centers are set.
Mix the powdered sugar, milk, and remaining vanilla until smooth. Add just enough milk to create a thick but pourable glaze.
Allow the rolls to cool slightly, then drizzle the vanilla glaze over the tops. For an extra bakery-style finish, pipe a small swirl of remaining cream cheese filling on each roll.
Serve them slightly warm while the centers are still wonderfully creamy and the rolls are soft and fluffy. Would you enjoy these with coffee or as an after-dinner dessert?
