Cheesy Breadsticks Recipe

 

Ingredients:

  • Dough:
    • 1 1/2 cups warm water (110°F)
    • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
    • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
    • 2 tbsp olive oil
    • 4 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • Topping:
    • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
    • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
    • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
    • 3 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 tsp dried oregano
    • 1 tsp dried basil
    • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Stir to dissolve and let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes foamy.
    • Add the olive oil, flour, and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix until a soft dough forms.
    • Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
    • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  2. Prepare the Topping:
    • In a small bowl, combine the melted butter and minced garlic. Set aside.
  3. Shape the Dough:
    • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
    • Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out onto a parchment-lined baking sheet to about 1/2-inch thickness.
    • Brush the dough with the garlic butter mixture.
    • Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the dough.
    • Sprinkle the dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper over the cheese.
  4. Bake the Breadsticks:
    • Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven.
    • Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the edges of the dough are golden brown.
  5. Serve:
    • Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
    • Cut the cheesy bread into sticks or squares and serve warm.
