Crispy Vegetable Cabbage Rolls
Ingredients:
- 1/2 head of cabbage, finely shredded
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- 1 carrot, grated (optional)
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce (optional)
- 2-3 tablespoons oil for frying
Instructions:
- Prepare the Vegetables:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the finely shredded cabbage, chopped green onions, and grated carrot (if using).
- Add the salt, pepper, garlic powder, and soy sauce to the vegetables and mix well.
- Make the Batter:
- In a separate small bowl, beat the egg and then add the flour and cornstarch. Mix until you have a smooth batter.
- Pour the batter over the vegetable mixture and mix until the vegetables are evenly coated.
- Shape the Rolls:
- Take small portions of the mixture and shape them into cylindrical rolls. Make sure they are compact so they hold their shape during frying.
- Fry the Rolls:
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Once the oil is hot, carefully place the rolls in the skillet, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.
- Fry the rolls for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
- Drain and Serve:
- Once the rolls are cooked, remove them from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
- Serve the rolls hot, possibly with a dipping sauce like soy sauce or sweet chili sauce.
