Grilled Steak with Pineapple Salsa
Ingredients
For the Steak:
- 2 ribeye or sirloin steaks (about 1 lb each)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the Pineapple Salsa:
- 1 cup fresh pineapple, diced
- 1 medium tomato, diced
- 1 small red bell pepper, diced
- 1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
- 1 jalapeño, finely diced (optional for heat)
- 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
- Juice of 1 lime
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Prepare the Salsa:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the diced pineapple, tomato, red bell pepper, red onion, jalapeño (if using), and cilantro.
- Squeeze the lime juice over the mixture, season with salt and pepper, and toss well.
- Set aside in the refrigerator to let the flavors meld while preparing the steak.
2. Season and Grill the Steak:
- Rub the steaks with olive oil, then season both sides with garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Preheat a grill or grill pan to high heat. Once hot, place the steaks on the grill.
- Cook for 4-6 minutes per side for medium-rare, or to your desired doneness. Use a meat thermometer for accuracy (130°F for medium-rare, 140°F for medium).
- Let the steaks rest for 5 minutes before slicing to retain the juices.
3. Serve:
- Slice the steak against the grain into thin strips.
- Arrange on a platter and spoon the pineapple salsa over the top.
- Garnish with additional cilantro, if desired.
Tips:
- For an extra tropical touch, grill the pineapple before making the salsa.
- Pair this dish with rice, roasted vegetables, or a light salad for a complete meal.
- Adjust the heat level in the salsa by adding or omitting jalapeño.
Enjoy this vibrant and flavorful dish that perfectly balances the richness of the steak with the refreshing pineapple salsa! Let me know if you’d like any variations or additional tips.
