Homemade Whipped Cream
Ingredients:
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream (chilled)
- 2-3 tablespoons powdered sugar (or granulated sugar)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions:
- Chill the Equipment:
- Place your mixing bowl and beaters (or whisk attachment if using a stand mixer) in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes to chill. This helps the cream whip up faster and achieve better volume.
- Combine Ingredients:
- Pour the chilled heavy whipping cream into the chilled mixing bowl.
- Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract (if using).
- Whip the Cream:
- Using an electric mixer on medium speed, beat the cream mixture until it begins to thicken.
- Increase the speed to high and continue beating until stiff peaks form. This means the cream will hold its shape when the beaters are lifted out of the bowl.
- Serve:
- Use the whipped cream immediately, or store it in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 24 hours.
Tips:
- Be careful not to overwhip the cream, as it can turn into butter.
- Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less sugar according to your taste.
- This whipped cream can be used to top desserts, pies, cakes, hot cocoa, or as a filling for pastries.
Enjoy your homemade whipped cream!
