Cheesy Baked Pork Chops Recipe
Ingredients:
- 4 bone-in pork chops, about 1 inch thick
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese blend)
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (or 1 teaspoon dried parsley)
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Season Pork Chops: Pat the pork chops dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Sear Pork Chops: Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Add the pork chops and sear for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove the pork chops from the skillet and set aside.
- Deglaze Pan: Add chicken broth to the skillet, scraping up any brown bits from the bottom with a wooden spoon. Let it simmer for a minute.
- Bake: Return the pork chops to the skillet, placing them in the broth. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the pork chops are cooked through (internal temperature should reach 145°F or 63°C).
- Add Cheese: Remove the skillet from the oven. Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over the pork chops. Return to the oven for an additional 3-5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and garnish with chopped parsley and thyme. Let the pork chops rest for a few minutes before serving.
Variations:
- Herb Butter: Add a pat of herb butter on top of each pork chop before adding the cheese for extra flavor.
- Vegetable Addition: Add sliced mushrooms or bell peppers to the skillet before baking for a one-pan meal.
- Spicy Twist: Add a pinch of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
These cheesy baked pork chops are a comforting and flavorful dish perfect for dinner, especially when served with a side of mashed potatoes or roasted vegetables. Enjoy!
